I see it all too often. The ambitious corporate professional and enthusiastic entrepreneur wakes up one day, only to realize that they in the midst of all the work, they have lost touch with who they are beyond their tasks and titles.
I'm a hard driver and unlike many other wellness coaches, I don't encourage anyone to do less of what they love. Many of had working professionals love the work that they do and that's what keeps them getting up early and going after it with full force each day.
Instead of saying "slow down", I want to support you by sharing 4 simple things that you should be including into your daily agenda that will help you to maintain balance, remain connected with your sense of self and give you the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of all that labor that you put in every single day.
#1 BE
The plight of ambitious professionals is often our inability to get out of do mode and just simply be. The most important thing that you are is not attached to what you do and how you do it but rather who you are. Your being is enough. You are already validated by God. In the midst of all the exciting chaos that gets you one step closer to your professional goals, take a moment to sit with the thought of being worthy without having to do anything.
#2 THINK
Sometimes in moving so quickly, and doing everything within our power to push the needle forward for the latest project, we don’t carve out enough time to strategize. It's important that we are always considering new ways to work smarter. Make sure that in all of your tasks today you make room for innovative thoughts to flow that will help you to increase efficiency and streamline your way to the next goal. We also want to be intentional about reflecting on where we’ve been and visualizing the future that we want to create. This will support us in aligning our thoughts and behaviors in a laser focused direction.
#3 BREATHE
Breathing helps to, Reduce stress levels in your body. Lower your heart rate. Lower your blood pressure. Reduce depression. Better regulate your body's reaction to stress and fatigue.
#4 PLAY
Prioritize time to enjoy the money that you've earned and the people that your enjoy being around. Researchers say "Play for adults is critical in our stressful go-go-go lives. Play has been shown to release endorphins, improve brain functionality, and stimulate creativity. And it can even help to keep us young and feeling energetic. Studies show that play improves memory and stimulates the growth of the cerebral cortex." https://wanderlust.com/journal/the-importance-of-play-in-adulthood/
